Our little fox was just recently reading L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables, and came across the line "Look at that sea, girls - all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen..." Of course it reminded him of a piece of art hanging in our own little Foxed & Foraged Gallery by artist Mae Thurston! Her "Coastal Cottage" is an 8" x 10" acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas. We can just imagine Anne and her bosom friend, Diana Barry standing at that little cottage looking out at the scene and dreaming of wonderous adventures...

This is an incredibly charming, nostalgic impressionist landscape original painting that captures the quiet romance of a seaside escape. The painting centers on a traditional, whitewashed Irish cottage topped with a beautifully textured thatched roof, nestled snugly into a windswept coastline. An expansive, bright blue sky filled with grand, billowing white clouds hangs overhead, creating a dramatic interplay of light and shadow across the landscape. In the foreground, loose and energetic strokes of olive greens, golden yellows, and stony grays bring the wild coastal grasses and rocky pathways to life. This rich contrast between the cozy, enduring home and the open, vast freedom of the sea evokes a powerful sense of peace, solitude, and rustic coastal heritage. Infuse your home or gallery with the comforting, fresh-air breeze of a tranquil seaside retreat. Perfect for elevating a cozy bedroom, anchoring a coastal or cottage-
core living space, or adding a charming window into nature within a modern apartment.
